I think my passion for skin care came as a result of having skin challenges since my early teen years. I was a teen in the 90s when powdered matte skin was in and I waged all out war against my skin's super oily state with constant powdering and harsh cleansers and toners promising to reduce shine. When I got my first job in high school at a local drugstore, I loved working the skin care aisles and getting to buy anything on the shelf that promised clear, balanced skin. Nothing really worked as hoped, and as I graduated to jobs with prestige skin brands in my early 20s and after college, I found the same lack of genuine results from the dozens of products I'd tried, even those with price tags of hundreds of dollars each. Meanwhile, I became educated about the impact cosmetic chemicals can have on our bodies and the environment. I soon began working primarily with natural and organic product companies and using clean, plant-based skin care that was cruelty-free and safe for the body and planet. Reducing our chemical body burden is critical (more about that in a future post).
It took me through most of my 20s to discover that what you put in your body is as critical for balanced, resilient skin as what you put on your skin, and both should be as whole food-based as possible. It wasn't until I began studying holistic nutrition and putting those principles into practice for myself that I finally achieved my healthiest complexion. It felt like I had someone else's skin! I couldn't believe the miraculous transformation.
Coupling a specific beauty-building diet with other lifestyle practices and the highest quality plant-based skin care is a method capable of delivering totally transformative results that I have been able to share with clients of all ages to help them achieve their best possible complexion at any age. Certain foods, practices, and topical ingredients hailing directly from the wisdom of nature can clarify, brighten, firm, de-puff, de-line, re-contour, and revitalize our skin (not to mention giving us bright eyes, stronger hair and nails, and our best body!). This website and blog will be a resource for sharing information about how to cultivate your unique and healthiest beauty via natural topical remedies, nutrition, and lifestyle practices. The nearest upcoming blog posts will each focus on one of the Cultivate Beauty Basic Guidelines in greater detail. When followed regularly, each of these guidelines can deliver incredible beauty benefits as well increasing your sense of well-being and vitality.
